Are you spending a lot on advertising and not seeing results?
Is your website turning your visitors away?
Is your shopping cart abandonment rate too high?
Do you know what to do in order to increase your conversion rate?
If you are asking yourself these questions, then you’ve come to the right place.
What is a conversion?
A conversion is a specific action you want your web visitor to take on your website or landing page, such as:
Buy
Download
Opt-in
Register
Refer a friend
Make a phone call
Click to chat
And more
The conversion event changes the web visitor into a lead or a customer.
What is conversion rate optimization?
Conversion Optimization (or Conversion Rate Optimization) is the science and art of getting a higher percentage of your web visitors to take action and becoming a lead or customer.
Science: you cannot simply “guess and hope” which changes to your web pages will achieve a higher conversion rate. Instead, Phoenix DS’s experts develop and test valid hypotheses, run controlled tests, and evaluate results to lock in the improvement.
Art: a statistician or engineer alone cannot create the visuals and messaging that engage your web visitors. Phoenix DS’s organic and structured process creatively applies learning from thousands of test results to test only the best variations on your website.
How are CRO goals achieved
You can create any number of testing samples for any type of project. You can create various display ads, use various colors, a wide range of headlines and slogans, different types of Call To Actions (CTA’s) but if you are not testing how each of your changes is at achieving the desired goal in a controlled environment, you are just guessing. This is where testing, analyzing, optimizing, doing, testing, analyzing, optimizing, doing, testing, analyzing, optimizing, doing, etc.
Testing: A test is run on a specific goal.
Analyze: The results of that test are analyzed.
Optimizing: Updates to the test are incorporated to increase the goal.
Doing: The results that are quantified as a success are implemented.
The goal is to be always testing and learning so you can not only achieve the companies goals but to also learn what works and what doesn’t and so you can apply that knowledge towards future goals. Sometimes you might never know what works and be surprised at what does work and what doesn’t. Testing is the best judge.
A/B Testing
When you perform an A/B test, you create two different versions of a web page and split the traffic evenly between each page. You can also perform an A/B/C, an A/B/C/D etc. etc. but the end goal is to try different web page versions and see which performs better. In an A/B test, you can change literally any variable you want from page to page, and it is, in fact, a testing best practice to create multiple and radically different pages for your test. The goal is to see which one responds best to your visitors and continue to refine the page that achieves the goal that is targeted. But the testing doesn’t end there as the one that has best achieved the goals can now be tested even further.
Multivariate Testing
A multivariate test involves performing a far more subtle test of the elements inside one web page. The goal is to give you an idea of which elements on a web page play the biggest role in letting you achieve the objective of that page. Multivariate tests are more complicated and best suited for more advanced marketing testers, as it tests multiple variables and how they interact with one another, giving far more possible combinations for the site visitor to experience and is better suited to sites with large traffic numbers to better gauge the results.
That being said a Hybrid A/B-Multivariate Testing can be achieved along the same lines creating a more focused environment. The goal is the same but the sampling is not as wide-ranging but gives you results that again can be refined and tested.
